How to build a PC: hardware recommendations, instructions, etc.
First, prepare a clean work area for yourself. This can be a dining table, a desk, or any surface large enough for your box to lie flat on the side, with enough space around it to accommodate the rest of the components. Most of the components you purchase will come with instruction manuals. It is convenient for them to use. We will start with the motherboard, so please open the instruction manual on the installation page. This can be very daunting-there are a lot of things to watch-but you can think of all of them as a lot of Lego toys. Each piece can be matched with each other. For motherboards, your first job will be to install the CPU.
Depending on the type of CPU purchased (Intel or AMD), the chip may have small tips on one side (don’t touch them), or there may be small gold contacts on one side (don’t touch them). Seriously, don’t touch that side of the chip. The grease on your fingertips may damage the contacts, or you may bend the pins. Just make one and your processor becomes an expensive piece of silicon.
Installing the processor is very easy. First, please double check the motherboard instructions and make sure that the processor socket is unlocked. This will be a large square with a bunch of small holes (or contacts) on it, and a joystick or button next to it. The instructions on the motherboard will clearly explain how to unlock the socket so that you can put the processor in without any problems.
After confirming that it is unlocked and ready, just find which corner of the processor has a golden triangle, and then align it with the same symbol on the motherboard processor socket. Gently place the processor in the socket, and then gently flip the latch or locking mechanism. You don’t have to fight. If you must press hard, double check that the socket of the processor is correct.
Next, you will need your Thermal paste. That tiny silver viscous plastic syringe is very important for the next step. Now that your processor is in place, take a look at the shiny square silicon wafer in the center. That’s where your radiator will sit. Your processor has a heat sink. On the side of the heat sink, you will see a copper ring. After we apply the thermal paste, you will place the heat sink directly on top of the processor, with the silicone square and the copper ring perfectly aligned.
Go ahead and carefully squeeze the small ball of thermal paste (no more than a pea) onto the silicon square of the processor. You will want it to be as close to the center as possible.
Now, align the heat sink with the screws around the processor, and then gently lower it into place. You will squeeze the thermal paste, and the goal here is to create a thin layer on the back of the processor. If it oozes a little bit is fine, but if it oozes a little bit beyond the edge of the processor, then you are using too much. Take some isopropyl alcohol, wipe it with a lint-free cloth, and then wipe the processor and heat sink. Wait until they are completely dry and try again.
If everything is normal, please fix the radiator in place. Turn back to the motherboard manual and find the correct position near the processor socket to insert the cooling fan of the radiator. It should be very close to the processor socket. Once you find it, plug it in-congratulations, you just installed the CPU. This is the hardest part, exceed, well done.
Install storage and memory
Memory is probably the easiest thing to install. Do you see the small vertical sockets next to the CPU? Arrange the sticks of RAM and insert them starting from the slot on the left. Once they are properly placed, they will lock into place. If you have two RAMs, make sure to skip a slot between them. Your motherboard manual should state the slot to be used.
